The Inferno modernized

Just finished reading "Dante's Inferno" a modern adaptation by Sandow Birk and Marcus Sanders. This book will never take the place of the original that's for sure, but it was an interesting read. One of the things it does is to interlace every so often modern people or illustrations with what Dante originally wrote. Here is an example:

Canto 25 60-65 "Even as they shouted, the two heads melted into each other so you couldn't tell which was Agnello and which was the snake. It was like the Terminator in T2 or the faces in that Michael Jackson video." (Page 153)

The one thing that I really didn't like was all the profanity in the book. I guess to make a modern adaptation you simply have to add all kinds of F bombs, ect. If you can get past the profanity, which seems to increase as you progress through Hell (wonder if that was purposeful) then it's an interesting read.

I have the other two volumes (Purgatory and Paradise) which I plan on reading at some point. Hopefully the profanity is left behind in Hell.
